Title search for auction properties

Hi, I am trying to buy a house from the auction for our family. My question is how do I do the title search besides checking the loan detail info from foreclosureradar.com? Do I go to title company and pay for the service? Do you have any recommendations? Thank you in advance. jerry

Basic options from least risky to most: 1. Have a title company do a search and issue a title commitment 2. Get a prelim from a title co. 3. Have a professional researcher known as an abstracter do a search for you. 4. Do the search yourself at the county recorders office. 5. Just wing it using a little common sense (a $400k loan on a $500k house is probably a first).
